Hehe. Even still, the car has come out fantastic. Can't wait, I want one for myself [quote]
Why don't you get off your computer, and start building your own La Bala. You can get a welder from Harbor Freight, and the metal pack from Steve or your local supplier for less than $1500.00. From there you can start shopping ebay. If you don't know how to weld, take a course at your local community college. Here in NC a 2 night a week, 16 week course only cost $175.00. That includes all materials. I'd like to see you start the next builders log. I'll be the first to erge you along _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

Well, I actually JUST found another job after losing my last one 7 months ago. When the background check clears and they know I am not a pedophile, I'll start next week. I'd had no income there, which doesn't matter since I am 19 and in college. I also don't have a garage, which makes everything that much harder. I don't know how to weld, no, but it can't be hard. They tell me if you can solder, you can weld. I would take a course though.
Believe me, if I had the money and a place to do it, I'd be finishing up my La Bala. Soon, if all goes as planned. |

About the only thing welding and soldering have in common is heat. Don't let whoever told you different work on your car. School will teach you the basics. To become a good welder just requires practice, practice, practice. _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

Yeah, of course. Like anything else. Even still, the lack of space and funds makes this whole idea very hard. |

Jim's Car was a hit at this years Carlisle, Pa Kit Car show. Here are a few photos I took while Jim's car was being photographed by Kit Car Builder Magazine.

The show was a lot of fun, and the La Bala drew quite a bit of intrest. Hopefully we will have more builders starting logs in the near future. I'm hoping to put doors on #003 and have it ready for the Turkey Rod run in Daytona in November. It would be great to see some new builders there.

Man, you stay busy! The car looks great. So, any driving impressions to report? November you say...perhaps my wife would be interested in a trip to Daytona. |

I hope to be starting a log soon , I am in the process of finishing the work bench and organising "bits".
I am in Australia, and the build will be a race car only.

Congrats on your wedding, I wish you both a long happy life together. It would be great to see you, the wife, and the car at Daytona. The Turkey Rod run is an event every car lover should experience at least once in thier life. The whole town turns into one big car show. _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

Car is still at the tuners trying to sort out a misfire and failure to achieve full boost. Hope to have it back soon. Plan on trying to run the measured mile for top end at Maxton, NC 27 June 09. _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

Looking forward to seeing your progress. If we can help you out let us know. What engine do you plan on using? _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

Turns out the ECU was bad on La Bala #003. I hope to get another computer tomorrow and do some pulls on the dyno. I'll try and post some numbers on Sunday. _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

We put a GM Cobalt SS stage 3 ECU on #003 and did a pull. The ECU is locked so we couldn't make any changes. Once we reved over 2K the A/F went to 9.4:1 which is way too rich. Best it would do was 197 WHP and 210 on the torque. Tuner expects to get at least 250 WHP once we get an ECU we can adjust. Hopefully in another week. _________________ Always remember, ain't nothing is as simple as it seems. |

250 whp! Wow. I'm running a tad over 1/2 of that and my car feels pretty quick. I can't wait to see the numbers on that. |

Oh, that is soooo cool! I'm glad it wasn't something internal to the engine that was causing it to misbehave. Have you even taken it out on the pavement yet running those numbers?
I'm very curious to learn about what ECU you end up with (are you talking aftermarket even?) and if it's stock but then what you are able to do to tune it? _________________ Components, core kits, premium component kits and rollers now available |
