Time to post some updates. NC La Bala is starting to look like a car. To start with I was able to install the axles and finish the brake install.

I also finished the radiator hose routing and added coolant. I'm going to have to move the intercooler higher on the radiator to clear the bodywork.

Before installing the side panel everything had to be finished underneath it. I don't want to have to take it off again.

I used 3/4" angle for the lower panel mounts.

Tomorrow the other side panel goes on, then the dash. On Friday, NC La Bala goes to the shop for wheel alignment and exhaust system fab. Very Happy

Oh Yeahhhh!!!! Twisted Evil

Is there any way that you can weigh it at this stage? Even 2 bathroom scales with a 2x4 under 1 wheel at a time would give you a cheap way to do it.

Er, I dunno how well that would work! Might break the scales! Then again, if it's an American scale, it should be capable of handling heavy weights.

I'll take it into town and get it weighed when it is finished. I'll bring the weight slip to the show for the build book.

Very Happy Took a while, but the 4 wheel alignment is now right on. Very Happy Hope to have the rest of the body work on, and the exhaust finished by the end of the week. Should also have a front ASB on by then. I've decided to paint the car rather than leave it in gelcoat. Should I post a photo, or let you wait till Carlisle for the unveiling? Twisted Evil Got the shocks today Steve, Thanks. Very Happy

Photos! Also, what color did you end up deciding to paint the body?

Getting down to the wire now, and still lots to do before NC La Bala goes to the paint shop on Tues. 14 Apr. I finished the front ASB, Turns out I should have made it about 1" shorter as the bar interferes with the brake hose. I think I can fix the problem with longer hoses.

I also completed the rear body mount. I made the mount a little wider than the drawing so the mounting pads would bond to the flat surfaces of the rear body rather than on the seam.

You can also see in the photo that the exhaust system is almost finished.
My solution to the problem with the rollbar interfering with the rear clamshell was to move the rollbar forward.

The Ecotec engine uses a pump and regulator in the tank in the stock configuration. It also has a returnless fuel injection setup. In order to make it work in the La Bala I had to convert it to a return type system with an external fuel pressure regulator. It runs well now. Very Happy

I'm confused on the fuel-return system and why you needed to change it?

The engine requires about 50 PSI to run correctly. I have been unable to find an external 50 PSI pump. The HOLLEY external pump I'm running puts out a little over 100 PSI. The fuel pressure regulator sends 50 PSI to the engine, and the rest back to the tank. The regulator is also hooked into the vacuum side of the supercharger. When the boost increases, the fuel pressure does as well.

Things on on schedule to have #003 ready for Carlisle. Worked on the front hinge till 2200 last night, and took it into town this morning. The car will be Subaru 02C, WRB. I'll pick it up around the 1st of May and appy the finishing touches. I'm ready for a break. Very Happy

Thanks John. It took me 2 days to do the finish work on the taillights. I will do the major work on a set for you and let you finish them off. I'll bring them to the show. Confused
