Old Lotus rear Suspension |

Look at this old suspension, it reminds me of the new suspension on the front end of the westies... sort of quasi-dedion?

Chamber gain on one side causes chamber loss on the other. and vica versa.

I used to work for a VW agent in Hereford, UK. The owner of the dealership had one of these and displayed it in the showroom, he had a small collection of old racing Lotus's. A great place for getting ideas from when you can view these up close every working day, nice to see how a car is put together when you have no rear chassis and everything bolts to the engine and transmission.
Great picture BTW, without any body you really get a good idea how these cars are put designed.
Nice one Ash!!! |

According to my Caroll Smith book 'Tune to win' that style of suspension suffers from 'Jacking' , where once the car starts to roll under, the design inherently increases the roll. It is not a good design. VW used this design in the early VWs. The axles themselves are a supporting member. _________________ Components, core kits, premium component kits and rollers now available |
