Weight and bodel panels? |
|
|
Hey Steve...
What's the La Bala weight minus the 4AGE?
Wondering if it's light enough for a bike engine powerplant...
Also, on the body panels package, does this include the thermoformed headlight covers/tailights? (or are tailights sourced from something else?)
Thanks,

I haven't weighed the car without the engine since it's been all together, but I believe the 4AGE with 5-speed weighs around 380Lbs... (SWAG) so that puts you in the 1150 range. Now realize that is with the current chassis which I believe to be about 100lbs heavier than my new design and also with windshield and superstructure which is another 80Lbs so you are getting close to the magic 1,000lb range without engine and windshield and using the new frame design.
Bill Kibler (local to me) has steel purchased and is using an FJ1300R shaft-drive engine in his La Bala. So in 6 months or so I should be able to tell you definitively if a bike engine is adequate.
The headlamp buckets and taillights are separate. I haven't even finished mounting the headlamps permanently with the plexiglass covers so I don't have a price yet. But track only cars do away with the headlamps and additional weight/complexity. The taillights are 4" truck LED units in 4 machined aluminum housings. I am shopping for a cheaper source for the rear housings, possibly machined out of ABS plastic. _________________ Components, core kits, premium component kits and rollers now available |

Okay, yeah will be interesting to se how his FJ powerplant does.
Here in North Carolina I know others have registered bike engined cars for the street, so I would be aiming to do the same... need a windshield still
Thanks

I put the windshield back in. The aeroscreen was aborted. _________________ Components, core kits, premium component kits and rollers now available |
