newbie alert!
just wondering if any of you builders live in california, because i would like to know what the requirements are to get custom cars like the la bala registered with the DMV

my plan is to build something similar to the la bala, except there will be no windshield and no fiberglass body (dune buggy for the street) and am curious if this is even legal

Im not sure about that end of the country, but I know in CT you could get away with it. I do know that you dont have to have a body on the car, but you do need an engine cover of some sort and the wheels must have fenders on them. A windshield isnt required, but if you have one you must have wipers and a defrosting system.

What I did is I called the DMV office and requested a list of all required equipment for custom/homebuilt cars and motorcycles. They should send you everythinng you need, mine even included the special forms i need to fill out when im finished. Good luck!
