March 1st, 2009 Update - A North Scottsdale Photo Shoot |

Yesterday morning I left the house before dawn to meet up with Patrick
Ernzen, owner and ace photog of the online e-zine publication 'Desert
Motors' (website: http://www.desert-motors.com). I drove east in the
darkness of the early morning, towards a lightening sky to meet Patrick
at a place called Reatta Pass. Reatta Pass is a historic old west
watering hole in the mountains north of Scottsdale, Arizona and is
situated along a trail route from the late 1800's and early 1900's.
Many of the old trading post buildings are still standing or at least
have been re-created to look like the old west and they look authentic
enough to me! Patrick and I scouted some locations in the darkness and
decided on a couple that we could use. The wind was blowing hard from
the north as dawn began to light the eastern sky but the temperatures
were mild, and as I worked to set the car up for each shot, Patrick
took the photos. It turns out that was a good plan because if I can
build a car, then Patrick can capture their beauty through his lens!
Now I should forewarn you that the photos I am about to show you were
not taken by Patrick, but are just some snapshots I took with my pocket
digi-cam. In fact I'm not allowed to show off his photos until his
e-magazine is published next month. The samples he emailed me this
morning (which I can't show you) have left me with my jaw on the floor.
The difference a good eye and a high end camera makes over my eye and a
snapshot camera is astounding!
Desert
Motors was created to show the world the thriving car scene in Arizona. The climate
in this area is ideally suited to the storage and preservation of
exotics and there are many, many incredible cars that call Scottsdale
and Phoenix their home. I strongly suggest that you visit
www.desert-motors.com and check out the photo galleries there for some
awesome Arizona cars! You should also sign up on his site, because when
his e-zine comes out next month, my car will be in it! And trust me
when I tell you that his photographs are WORTH looking at!
And now for my sad little photos...
