La Bala Videos Print E-mail

Most of the videos listed below were shot on MiniDV and captured using a Pinnacle Systems DV500Plus. Then encoded in Adobe Premiere using LSXMpeg encoder. MPEG Format is MPEG1 at 320x240. If you have a broadband connection then you are probably safe streaming these videos into your media player. If you are on dial-up, then I suggest right-clicking on the links and saving to your desktop before attempting to play these

More recently I have been uploading all of my videos to YouTube. Please visit my YouTube user page for all the latest and greatest Grabercars/La Bala videos!

October 10, 2004 - DIY Tail Light Housings - 14.8MB WM9  I sourced some cast ali tubes from the scrap yard and machined them to accept 4" truck style LED tail lights. Here I describe how the light fits inside the housing with a rubber gasket.

October 9, 2004 - Bala Body Walkaround   13.3MB WM9- Video shows the current state of progress on La Bala bodywork. Not a lot of progress since the last video. But I have put a lot of effort into refining the shape to my liking.

August 16 , 2004 - DIY RivNut Install   7.8MB MPEG1- la Bala has a completely flat underbody with a rear diffuser but the engine undertray needs to be removable to allow for engine access. One can't use rivets to attach the tray in this situation, so RivNuts are used instead. This video demonstrates how I used a simple piece of metal, a vise-grips and a screwdriver as a DIY rivnut installer tool.

August 16 , 2004 - Bala Body Walkaround   3.3MB WM9- Video shows the current state of progress on La Bala bodywork. The black spoltches are low spots in the surface that need to be filled in to make the surface perfectly smooth.

June 11 , 2004 - HotWire Foam Cutter 5.2MB WM9- A clean and relatively painless way of shaping styrofoam.
I created a foam cutting hot wire out of some scrap wood, a piece of nichrome wire and a battery charger. Video also shows a bit of the front of the car with foam almost completed.

May 18, 2004 - La Bala 3D animation 1.6MB MPEG- 3DS Max rendering of body final concept.
I used 3D visualization tools to create the car body in 3D before starting on the real thing. This animation includes a 6'-0" humanoid form standing next to the car to give human scale.
