This is the primer I am using on the Plug Print E-mail
I spent about 8 hours this weekend sanding on the car. Almost everything I am doing right now involves the lightest of sanding strokes. If I go even one sanding stroke too far I have to come back in and add filler. With the drywall joint compound it is just so easy to sand... But I have learned a lot about keeping a steady hand and using the proper lighting angle so as to not mess up. There are no photos to show of this process.

In other news, Bill Kibler bought a new paint-gun and a gallon of Laminex hi-fill primer for the project. My old spray gun just couldn't be cleaned and refurbished any more. Well, maybe it could have been, but with new guns costing so little and the time required to rebuild the old and crappy quality gun made it a better choice just to buy new. The primer is an interesting product. I think that it is similar to the dura-bild that I have seen around. Here is a photo of the can. Has anyone had any experience with this product? The guy down at the fiberglass supply house said that this product would be perfect for my application.

Have any of you ever used an english wheel? Bill is getting ready to manufacture a very nice one. It has a quick release for the roller so you can easily insert/remove the panel and not have to reset the tension. Several years ago I saw an old metalworker use an english wheel to fabricate a fender for a car. I can see where this would come in very VERY handy in car building! I have started to think... Aluminium bodywork!!!!????

Here is a photo of the prototype English Wheel that Bill will be manufacturing. The finished product will be much more refined than this one, but the concepts are all there. You can see the quick-release as a handle and a red object just below the smaller roller.
