November 28, 2004 - A major milestone! Print E-mail

Today I reached a major milestone on the car. The overall shape of the car is finalized and from now on all the effort wil be directed towards perfecting the lines and smoothing the panels. By this time next week I hope to have sprayed the first coat of primer on the car.

From this point on it's sanding, sanding, sanding... :)

Diffuser- I've spent some time thinking about building a functional rear diffuser for the car. The underside of the car is flat. It rakes 1" from airdam to just behind the seats, from there the rake increases to 2" over the next 32". At that point it is just behind the rear axle. I have about 16" to complete the diffuser exit. I plan on fabricating the diffuser exhaust out of 16ga ali. If anyone has any additional thoughts or websites that discuss diffusers, I'd be glad to read about them.

Bike engines- I have received some emails questioning my sanity regarding the bike engine scheme. I still think it's a workable plan. All the people that I have talked to that have actually built or driven dual bike engine cars say that they are amazing. Even single bec's are amazing.

Front bumper- Finally made a bumper shape that I like. I need to find a source for the grille material. Specifically a woven stainless wire mesh. Anyone have any sources for this?
